The GentleLase is a new generation of medical laser type Alexandrite that produces high-energy pulses. It emits a beam of light that is absorbed by the melanin of the hair follicle, leaving the surrounding skin area unaffected.

With the method of selective photothermolysis, the energy from the laser alexandrite targets the melanophore cells of the hair and with a wavelength of 755 nm is selectively absorbed to the maximum by melanin, the pigment that gives colour to the hair.

The subsequent increase in temperature in the hair follicles results in the destruction of the cells responsible for their re-growth, without damaging the epidermis and the surrounding tissue.

The result is a clean skin without hair, and without the fear of folliculitis

Most patients feel momentary stings, the intensity of which depends on the density, colour and diameter of the hairs and the skin’s phototype. However, as the number of sessions progresses and the hairiness decreases, the sessions become practically painless.

You can return to your daily activities immediately after the session.

The number of sessions required depends on the area, the quality of the hair and some secondary factors that affect the normal hair growth cycle, such as age, hormones, medication, hereditary predisposition and certain pathological conditions. Usually, 6 to 12 sessions are needed in a normal hair growth.

If necessary, a clipper or razor is used in the area where the laser will be applied 3 days before the treatment. It is recommended that at least 23 days have elapsed since the application of depilatory cream or wax. It is also recommended that any other medication that causes photosensitivity to the skin has been stopped. Avoid sunbathing four days before the laser application. There should be no irritation in the area where the laser will be applied. When the skin is tanned from sunbathing or tanning beds, it is advisable to avoid the Alexandrite laser, while we can apply the Soprano Ice Diode laser which is suitable for tanned skin.
