TREATMENT OF PAPILLOMAS
The papillomas are benign skin lesions, and are removed mainly for aesthetic needs. They are not to be confused with Moles, or Warts, and in their usual form are small and round in size with a smooth surface or cauliflower-like appearance.
Their colour can vary and they can appear skin-coloured or even brown or dark brown. They occur in women and men, usually from the age of 30-70 years. Once they appear, injury to the area or irritation of the area should be avoided.
Two aggravating factors for the occurrence of pappilomas are obesity and diabetes mellitus.
In case there is a change in their appearance to exclude the possibility of dysplasia, or for reasons of avoiding injury – bleeding, the dermatologist recommends removal for preventive reasons.
SYMPTOMS - DIAGNOSIS
The pappilomas can be detected with the naked eye and the majority of them are asymptomatic. Apart from their unsightly appearance, they do not cause pain or other discomfort. Hotter and wetter areas of the body that experience sweating are more prone to developing the lesions of the Warts, such as underarms, chest, neck, groin. Also in areas of the body where the skin presents folds, increased friction is conducive to the development of Warts.
In case pappilomas grow in size they can cause a burning sensation, itching in the area or even bleeding in case of injury.
TREATMENT - REMOVAL
Avoiding injury and irritation to the area where the spots occur is part of a good prevention practice.
It is recommended that the immediate removal of pappilomas is recommended as a precautionary measure to avoid potential irritation, inflammation or injury.
